HOME ARTWORK ILLUSTRATION ANIMATION ABOUT
Adult Swim Bumper
Adobe After Effects + Adobe Animate
I pitched and created an Adult Swim TV Bumper that could potentially be seen on the network and use Adult Swim as a potential client. The goal was to heavily feature background art as well as utilize animated backgrounds. I had an idea for two characters, the driver, and the POV character going on some kind of strange road trip that ends up in places like a strange orange desert and outer space. It will reveal a map at the end that illustrates the characters were taking a trip TO Adult Swim. A sneak peak of the cool animation you would find in this TV block. The background animation uses a technique known as parallax which creates an illusion of depth by having objects furthers from the viewer move slower than those closer.
I began this process by making several design passes of the vehicle I would like to use for this animation, I played around with the idea of using a train instead of a car. Then once I picked my vehicle design I made assets of the car and the moving backgrounds. I did all the sketches traditionally, finished the car traditionally and then moved into photoshop to create the moving backgrounds. Once the assets were finished I put them all together in After Effects and animated the backgrounds using the anchor tool. After the backgrounds were fully moving, i went into Animate and created the driver character, the steering wheel, the blinking animation, and the map / logo at the end. Once everything was animated I sent it back into After Effects to add the audio.
